About Frida’s Cottage
The Cottage
Located in the heart of historical Whitby, the cottage is about 200 years old. The original charm and character has been retained in this Grade 2 listed building. Now lovingly transformed into Frida's Cottage. A vibrant and unexpected taste of Mexico on the Yorkshire coast.
The Decor
Each room has been cheerfully decorated to refect elements of Frida Kahlo's famous paintings and life.
Colours have been chosen based on Frida's own home, Casa Azul in Mexico City and incorporate curated, handcrafted folk art from across Mexico.
The Details
The traditional chimney has been restored and a romantic stove is now at the heart for cosying in the welcoming lounge. With bespoke furniture theming the room. Jewellery, Frida robes and artwork available to purchase should you like to take a momento home. Please be aware, the cottage does have a steep staircase.

Frida's Cottage offers free wifi, but we offer guests a wide range of Frida themed games as well as traditional boardgames, a record player and selection of LPs and art materials if you're feeling creative.

The kitchen is bright and has the facilities for cooking or enjoying a take away. There's complimentary cookies from Bothams and a selection of teas from Brew Tea Co.
Time to Sleep
Frida's Cottage has two double bedrooms and can sleep 1 - 4 guests. Each of the two rooms is decorated in a style inspired by Frida's famous self portraits and use of symbolism. Relax with luxury bedding and range of pillow firmness'.
Relax
Up the steep staircase, the bathroom has a jacuzzi bath and power shower. Complimentary toiletries are supplied and we've picked artisan soaps by The Natural Soap Company, which evoke a Mexican spice and flower market before a fiesta.
